This blog has been dormant for a long time – a half a year or so? Something like that. It’s been a nice record of a particular period of my life but as all blogs, it left a lot out. Old posts aren’t here anymore because it didn’t feel quite right to leave them in this space since for months now I’ve been wanting to change its focus.
I moved all past blog posts to archives I plan to leave up indefinitely.
Since Z was born I’ve been home, mothering. Hands down the hardest work I’ve ever done. And we moved, and two years after Z, E was born. They’re the best daughters I could ever have dreamed of having. And we got C the cat, who follows B the dog around everywhere, who does his best to ignore C. We live in a pretty full house. And a pretty messy one too. Some days I also wonder how on earth I could have got used to cleaning up so. much. poop. I mean after the 4 little creatures. But anyway.
Now that E is a year old, and Z’s in preschool 20 hours a week, my brain is starting to work again in the way that it used to. I’ve been trying to figure out which part of my life is so important that I have to make it the focus, and it’s making things. More specifically, sewing. For example, I sew clothes. All summer Z’s been ordering up a twirly skirt here and a dress there, and I must say, she’s inherited her father’s eye for color. By which I mean she makes incredible color choices, completely intuitively. And she’s only three! I’ve also been learning how to make quilts, and I plan to use this space to document things I’ve made that seem to me to be keepers.
I’m still setting up my workflow but soon, soon, there will be pictures, and more! (A battle cry to myself that I cannot succomb to laziness and distraction.)
